The desktop surfboard CAD/CAM software we design and cut every board with. We wrote it because nothing on the market worked the way a shaper thinks: curves you can feel, a volume you can trust, and a cut you can see before the machine runs.

What it does
The short version. Every tool is explained, with videos and lessons, on shaperlab.pro/features and shaperlab.pro/learn.
Outline · Rocker · Sections
Bézier curves with knots and tangent handles, hard rules that keep a board a board, live volume, rockers, widths and centre of volume as you drag. Feet-and-inches input.
3D layers
Channels, concaves, vee, wings and beak noses as layers on the surface, each blending in curvature into the base shape. Asymmetric boards.
3D scan import
Rebuild an existing board from an STL, OBJ or PLY scan: auto orientation, levelling and curve fitting, with the scan kept underneath as reference.
Fins, blanks, analysis
Fin boxes and a fin designer with buoyancy readouts, a real blank catalogue, and weight, flotation, stability and flex for the finished board.
CNC, simulated first
G-code for 3-axis deck and bottom programs, multi-axis and disk cutters, mold and hot wire, with a simulation of the cut before it runs on the machine.
Exports and templates
IGES and STEP surfaces for Alias and Rhino, STL and OBJ meshes, DXF curves, 1:1 PDF templates and a spec sheet for the customer.
How a Fajã board goes through it
- 01Brief. Your height, weight, level and waves become a starting board from our templates, with the volume we think you need.
- 02Design. We shape the outline, rockers and sections in Pro, add the bottom contours as 3D layers, place the fins and check weight and flotation.
- 03Check. You get a spec sheet and a 3D view of your board. Changes are a conversation, not a redraw.
- 04Cut. Pro simulates the cut, then writes the G-code for our CNC. The blank comes off the machine within a millimetre of the design.
- 05Finish. Hand finishing, glassing and sanding in the lab. The board you ride is the board on the screen.
